Current Update/Prayer Requests From Omar and Rebecca Rodriguez
 (December 2008)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Thank you so much for your prayers for my first trip to start this new ministry of stimulating and strengthening Women's ministries in Latin America.

The purpose of the trip was to solidify vision and action points for this new ministry of seeking to stimulate Women's ministries in the region and to officially unite as partners-ReachGlobal and the Union de Damas of Venezuela (the women's ministry of Venezuela).

The outcome of this meeting was excellent.  The women were well prepared for the material of this meeting and their enthusiasm for getting started was overflowing.  There was an overwhelming sense of joy to be a part of this new ministry, confidence that God had given us gifts to accomplish what He was calling us to do and privilege for being able to serve Him in this amazing way.

I was also able to attend a one day women's retreat where women from 6 different churches in one district (all from different cities) came together to be encouraged in the Word, to celebrate Him through Worship and to develop stronger ties of fellowship and friendship.  At this event, I was able to give a short greeting and officially share about this new ministry to women in Latin America that the "Union de Damas" and ReachGlobal were initiating.  I saw so many faces light up as I spoke of what the Lord had done amongst them and what He wanted to do now through them.  It was a blessing and a joy to have the privilege to share the ministry of "Women to Women" at this district event.

As I left Venezuela, I have the clear confidence that we, myself and the "Union de Damas", are united, compatible and all moving in the same direction as we move forward in this effort to obey the Lord's leading us to stimulate and strengthen women's ministries in Latin America.  For this my heart is overflowing to the Lord for this week and what He did in our midst>

Thank you for your part, through your gifts and your prayers, that sustained me and made it possible for me to be there.

Joyfully His,

Rebecca Rodriguez

Vila Cabanos, Brazil

June 12, 2009

Dear Friends,

I am sure that you have been faithful in your prayers for us even though you have not heard from me for some time.  It was a combination of illness and computer problems.  The illness was just the common flu and was overcome easier than the computer problems!  But we are well recovered now and the machines are working again.

Some Updates:

Lois and her family are in the States once again.  They left Germany because the law insisted that their children had to attend the public schools and not be home schooled.  They could not agree to that so returned to the States.  They are currently living in Cary’s hometown in Washington State.  Their board has given them some options as to where they might serve next and they have three months to decide what they feel led to do.  Your prayers for wisdom and guidance will be much appreciated.

Odaelson and Jeanette with Leandro and Cida their next-door neighbors here in the Vila moved to another state in early December because there was no work for them here.  They have had many opportunities to talk to men at work and in their neighborhood as well as have some Bible studies in their home.  They are living together.  It is “seed planting” time and no one knows now just when the harvest will come.  Leandro and cida are expecting their first child in a few more days.  Her pregnancy has been normal and uncomplicated so we anticipate a normal delivery.  Her mother has arrived to be with her for a time.

We are rejoicing that recently some new people are attending more or less regularly.  Both Bill and I have some new Bible studies.  As these progress we will write more about them.

Sincerely,

Imogene Burk
